About Mrs. Ashby
What a pleasure it is to be at Westlake Charter School! In my sixth year, I still have to pinch myself thinking I actually am living out my dreams of being a teacher. The joys of childhood, the awe of learning new things, the novelty of looking at the world through a child’s eyes, and the excitement of progress are things I cherish most about my job!
My teaching philosophy stems from a strong belief in intrinsic motivation, personal growth and group collaboration, life-long learning, a passion for reading, and a community of learners reaching their highest potential!
Before my transition to Westlake Charter School, I taught at a nationally recognized school in Folsom for three years. Although I love traveling here and there, I’ve always stayed close to home- going to school at UC Davis and getting my credential from Sacramento State. My husband and I love spending time outdoors with family and friends… and of course, our dog! Many of my days are filled with making traditions, reading, working on some sort of fun project, and preparing for the birth of our first child.
I welcome and appreciate the special relationship between parents and teachers. Our partnership and working together will make this a wonderful first grade year!
